I remember the first time I saw copper gutters on a home. It was up by Council Crest, I was taking a lady friend home after a most pleasurable evening, and she pointed out the design of a house that caught her eye. She is now a design professional in a big US city and every time I see these copper gutters or rain spouts I think of her. She has not had a major impact on my life but she has always put a smile on my face.
We used to sit next to one another in class and banter about stupid shit. On the weekends would would run into one another at a party and sneak around the corner to exchange a kiss and snicker about it, only to return to class Monday morning ignoring one another as if we had never met.
A house being built just up the street from not only has copper gutters, it also has beautiful copper flashing accenting the stonework of the chimney. I want copper gutters.
While your typical gutter cost anywhere from $3-5/sq ft, copper gutters can run up to $20/sq ft. The advantage of copper gutters is the low maintenance and the longevity that you get from the fact that they dont rust. Just expect to pay upwards around $3,000-6,000 depending on the size of your home, rather than the standard $300-600 (I still want them). Looking at them will not only add an aesthetically pleasing touch to my future home, but will remind me of old pleasures and the beauty of adolescents.
